Story
I’m cycling 500km from London 2 Paris in June 2025 to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia, the blood cancer charity. (Thursday 5th June to Sunday 8th June.)
Every 14 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. Every penny I raise thanks to your donation will go toward funding specialist nurses and clinical roles at blood cancer centres across the UK, providing patients with access to innovative and potentially life-saving treatments through clinical trials. Not only do these trails save lives in the UK, but they also help hasten global progress toward eradicating all forms of this disease.
I did this event for the first-time last year. It was the most challenging experience, spending over 20 hours in the saddle, but even before the end I’d decided to do it again because I got to understand how vitally important this event, and the money it raises, is to those close to Cure Leukaemia. Along the way I met so many amazing people, from those recovering from leukaemia to the families of people impacted by leukaemia, to the incredible professors working hard to both treat patients and find a cure for leukaemia. It was truly inspiring, motivating, and humbling.
Last year I had amazing support from family, friends, and colleagues, and people I didn’t know but for whom leukaemia is a very personal disease. That support was amazing motivation for me in my training and during the ride and helped raise a fantastic sum for Cure Leukaemia. I hope you will support me again, or for the first time, as I take on the challenge again.
Many thanks,
Ian
