Story

Now running the Royal Parks Half Marathon!

Bethany’s Story:

In 2016, my dad was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a condition that changed our lives but never diminished his strength and determination. Unfortunately, due to stress fractures, I will no longer be able to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon, however thank your for your help to raise funds for the MS Society, a charity dedicated to supporting those affected by MS and funding vital research into better treatments.

This cause is incredibly close to our hearts, and your support will make a huge difference. Every donation, big or small, will help the MS Society continue their incredible work. Please join us on this journey as we run to support those living with MS and work towards a future free of this condition. Thank you!

Ian’s Story:

Diagnosis was a bit of a shock. People often ask how did I know. Well the symptoms were different to anything else I had experienced. Pins and needles down one half of my body, balance was off (weird), couldn’t use a pen because hand/eye coordination was off (very weird), cold feet (make that freezing!) and crushing fatigue.

Nine years on I think of myself as one of the lucky ones. So far I have only had one or two relapses, and so generally feel in good health. But MS is an insidious condition and so many people have it way worse than me. So raising money for the MS Society, which does great work in helping people with the condition, as well as researching new treatments, is something we are keen to do. It also provides extensive resources to inform people about what the condition can mean for people, so if you know someone with MS, I would strongly recommend reading their material, suspect you will find it eye-opening.
