Story
I was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2019 but thankfully, made a full recovery. I feel I need to do something to help those less fortunate and contribute towards research to help prevent others from having to go through this. I swim a lot and I first noticed something was wrong when my swim became increasingly difficult. My doctor arranged tests which found I had Lymphoma. It only seems appropriate therefore that I do something involving swimming to try to raise some funds.
I have decided to swim the equivalent of the English Channel, (33k across at the narrowest point) in 4 weeks in June 2025. This will involve 3 weeks when, over 3 days, I will swim 3k each day, followed by one week when I will swim 3k each day over 2 days. I should mention that I will be 70 not long after this swim.
Blood cancer does not have many of the risk factors associated with other cancers so can affect anyone. I would be very grateful if you could donate whatever you feel you can afford to help me reach my target of £1000.
Many thanks.
Ian
