Story
Although I am no stranger to cycle rides, this is the first time I have taken part in an organised event to help raise funds for a charity. The event in question is a three-day cycle ride between London and Paris, which to be fair, is well outside my own comfort zone being over 180 miles in total length!
I am raising money for the Katharine House Hospice, just outside Banbury, which is an amazing setting offering specialist palliative care for adults with incurable illnesses. Having visited the hospice, you can’t help feeling truly humbled by the care and support on offer to those people that require their services. Although they work in collaboration with the NHS who cover the costs of the nursing staff, the annual bill for running this facility is in excess of £5.3m and the difference is covered purely by charitable donations or legacy donations through people’s wills.
Having recently seen the love and support offered by the greater hospice community through the loss of close friends, I understand the positive benefits of having access to these services at times when this kind of support and care is most needed.
If, you are in a position to help me to support this wonderful facility through a charitable donation, it would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you in advance…
