Ian's fundraiser for The John Maurice Aitken Trust SCIO

Ian Buchan is raising money for The John Maurice Aitken Trust SCIO

Mull of Kintyre Triathlon · 16 August 2026

Story

The JMA Trust is run entirely by volunteers with no overheads. This means every penny raised goes directly to those facing hardship in our local communities.

It is a charity that Jen and I have long admired and supported and that my Nevis colleagues Brian, Carol and Becca all help to run.

For the last 8 months I’ve been training (including through an extended bout of kidney stones 🙄 and the “fitness setback” of going to see Scotland in Boston) for the Mull of Kintyre Olympic Triathlon. On the 16th of August I’ll be doing a 1500m swim in the Atlantic followed by a 42km cycle and a 10km hill run. I can predict confidently that it will be my first and last triathlon!

If you’re able to support my fundraising efforts to help the JMA extend its support, I’d be very grateful. 100% of the money raised will go to people in our society who need it.
