BURGESS “RUNS” AGAIN!!
After a decade of putting it off, I’m lacing up my plimsolls one more time and dragging my broken body round the GNR.
“Why, Ian, why?” is the question I ask myself as I head out for another run in the hottest summer since forever. The answer is simple.
I’m doing it for Young Lives vs Cancer, and specifically the Veronica Claxton Memorial Fund. My good friend Luke set the fund up after his mum Veronica died in December 2008 following a short illness, aged only 50. Since then he’s raised over £600,000 for great causes.
Young Lives does amazing work, with specialist social workers in children’s cancer hospitals, and it runs free Homes from Home so families can stay near their child during treatment.
Please support this super bunch of people - just think, £13.10 is a pound a mile. If you’re feeling generous donate £20 and I’ll consider training properly (although I’ll probably not…). Anything at all is welcome.
If you’ve read this far, thanks. If you’re donating, thank you even more. I know it’s tough out there, but every penny counts.
Ian / Burge / Barry / The Cat (whichever one you know me as)
