Story
This year, I’m taking on the London Marathon to raise money for the Bereavement team within the Maternity Department at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The funds raised will go towards providing a postnatal counsellor, for those who have suffered baby loss; providing vital mental health care for parents coping with this unimaginable loss.
As a midwife, my wife has seen firsthand the heartbreak families experience in these moments. She knows how deeply this support can help—how it can give families strength when everything feels impossible. Hers and her colleagues experiences are a huge part of why I’m running for this department.
Over the years, I’ve run many marathons, and ultramarathons and I’ve never once asked for sponsorship. Running has always been something I’ve done for myself.
But this time is different.
Some of the challenges I’ve taken on include:
• The London Marathon (previously)
• A 100-mile trail ultramarathon
• Multiple marathons across the Welsh mountains
• And many more long-distance adventures
Now, for the first time, I’m asking for support—not for me, but for families going through indescribable loss.
Every donation, big or small, will help fund specialist counselling for bereaved parents—support that can offer comfort, stability, and hope when it’s needed most.
If you’re able to contribute, thank you. Your kindness truly means the world.
