Story
I'll be completing a 10km open water swim in Lake Windermere to support The Bridge's work preventing and relieving homelessness across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
Having a place to call home is a basic human need, yet for hundreds of thousands of people in the UK that need is not being met.
Homelessness is at it's highest ever levels in the UK. The rapid growth of homelessness and rough sleeping across the country shows very few signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Homeless people die almost 40 years younger than the rest of the country on average. Preventing people from becoming homeless in the first instance is therefore vital.
The Bridge have been fighting homelessness across the East Midlands for the last 30 years, supporting thousands homeless and vulnerably housed people and families each year.
Their work is life changing, and essential, unless we are happy to accept thousands more people being made homeless year on year.
So please support me in the Great North Swim, and in turn support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities!
