Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. As the current Mayor of Malton, I am thrilled to share with you the incredible cause I am fundraising for - Swinton & District Excelsior Band. Their members quickly came to support the Royal Proclamation in Malton by playing when Charles became King, supported a host of local events, and were presented with the King'Award recently for their community work, including running free training bands, free hire and tuition for local children to bring up the next generation of musicians. As a passionate supporter of this band, I have taken on a personal ultra marathon challenge to run at least 40 miles connecting the 4 band rooms in Ryedale: starting at Swinton band room at 6am on Sunday 5th May, running to White Star Band room (6.25am), Stape band rooom Pickering (9am approx), Kirkbymoorside bandroom 12noon, then run the Kirkbymoorside 10k at 2pm, then setting off to reach Swinton again by 7pm. This will not only test my physical endurance but also help raise much needed funds to repair the Swinton Brass band roof. Last year I ran for over 31 miles for a local charity, so I would like to match that and go further.

I am reaching out to you today because I believe that every contribution counts. By donating through JustGiving, you can make a direct impact on the future of this beloved band. Your generous donation will go towards repairing the roof, ensuring that the musicians can continue sharing their talent and passion with us all.

I invite you to join me on this journey by making a donation towards our target amount of £10,000. Together, we can make a real difference and ensure that the Swinton & District Excelsior Band continues to thrive.

Thank you for your support and generosity.
