The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Just wanted to share my experiences over my career in the nuclear industry.

Nearly forty two years ago as a young and rebellious teenager looking for something different from life. Influenced by my dad who gave what later became great advice i was lucky enough to secure an apprenticeship at the local nuclear facility now known as Sellafield.

I’ve been privileged to meet and work with some incredible people and the experiences and opportunities I’ve had have been incredible.

To celebrate and mark the end of a long and incredibly enjoyable career I’ve decided to go out the way I came in. As a young apprentice, myself and a number of other apprentices decided to throw ourselves out of an aeroplane to raise money for a local charity called The Calvert Trust. Forty years on I’m looking to replicate the event in April this year and hopefully look to raise a couple of quid for the same, well deserving charity.

Any of the apprentices pictured would be most welcome to join me.

If you can afford it I’d really appreciate any donations great or small.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
