Story
I am a keen cyclist who fancied a new challenge so I have chosen to run a half marathon to raise funds for Leukaemia UK whose research has the power to stop leukaemia devastating lives.
My daughter is part way through her 2 year recovery after a Stem Cell Transplant in July 2024 and is a Community Champion for Leukaemia UK. She suggested I might like to do the Jog28 challenge in November and this kick started an idea to use this as part of a wider challenge and run a half marathon. I had joined her on Couch to 5K and then onto completing a 10k in March 2025.
I know running a half marathon cannot be as hard, nor compare to what my daughter has experienced since being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, aged 24 in December 2023. However I hope you also feel moved to support Leukaemia UK.
Despite decades of incredible progress, only half of leukaemia patients live longer than five years after their diagnosis. We won’t stop until we change this.
Bringing together the leukaemia community, we will accelerate progress through life-changing research, awareness and advocacy, doing everything we can to make sure that the next person with leukaemia has the best possible experience of diagnosis, treatment and care.
