ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into ME/CFS. Our funded research suggests that in excess of 400,000 people in the UK have ME/CFS but it is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We invest in the best research we can globally.

Story

As some of you will have noticed - my hair is too long. The cut will be drastic and leave my head exposed to the bitter chills of the Yorkshire winter.

The hair itself will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, but I have decided to use this opportunity to raise money for ME research. Since Covid, ME/CFS has become more and more common - frequently referred to as Long Covid. We have friends and family members who have lost years of their life to this debilitating fatigue. Yet there is so little known about this condition, doctors have little to offer and unless more research is done, we aren't going to know any more.

ME Research has awarded 64 full grants and 5 PhD-level awards since 2000 and invested over £3.5million. Their aim is that through biomedical research they can find the causes of ME/CFS, improve diagnosis and treatment, and, ultimately, arrive at a cure.
