Altra Yorkshire Marathon 2025 · 19 October 2025 ·

In the heart of Ecclesfield, we run a full programme of Scouting for Beavers (6 to 8 years), Cubs (8 to 10 years) and Scouts (10 to 14 years). We aim to be an inclusive Scout Group, proud of our diversity and keen to learn from one another. Our young people (both boys and girls) meet weekly during term time, undertaking a wide range of activities that allow them to learn, develop, grow and have fun together. Through badge work, trips and camps, they learn to build confidence, respect one another, work together and push themselves to try out new things. How to summarise what we do? Well, across our scout Group our young people might regularly camp, climb, canoe, plot, hike, get lost, get found, shoot, throw, toast, sing, play, litter pick, crazy-golf, laser-quest, sleep under the stars, fundraise, cook, burn, wash up, dress up, sweep up, paint, plant, bell-ring, learn about different cultures and religions, parade, flag-bear and respectfully remember.

Story

On Sunday 19th October I will be attempting a first for me - my first ever marathon!

I will be running the Yorkshire Marathon in York, attempting an epic 26.2 mile run (yikes!!), something that has been on my bucket list for years, but is a really daunting challenge!

To make it even better, I thought I would fundraise for a cause very close to my heart, Ecclesfield Scout Group. It is our local group and my three boys have really benefited from being members over many years. It is a very inclusive group, for both boys and girls, with great leaders who give up their time to run an amazing programme of activities for our young people.

This year the Scout Hut boiler needed replacing, which was very expensive. They have been fundraising all year to covers the costs and there is about £500 left to raise. I have set my target at that level, but anything above that will got to the Scout Group's funds to support the great work the Group do.

I have been training all year, training with miles and miles of running, so please donate a few quid if you can. It will be much appreciated.
