5-3-1 Peaks for The Light Fund · 25 September 2025

The Light Fund is a fund-raising body set up in 2004 by like-minded members of the licensing industry in the UK to raise funds for specific charitable projects aimed at men, women and children. Details of the causes supported and more information on the Light Fund can be found at www.lightfund.org

Story

Max Publishing has been a long-standing supporter of licensing industry charity, The Light Fund since its inception 21 years ago.

The charity has raised over £2.2 million to date, funding hundreds of different projects that help children, women and men.

This September will see us take part in the largest ever mass participation event for The Light Fund.

The 5-3-1 Challenge will see over 100 people climbing Mount Snowdon, a large group of some 90 taking on the 3 Peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) and around 40 people who may or may not have lost their minds, taking on the 5 Peaks (the aforementioned three, plus Carrauntoohil and Slieve Donard).

Never ones to shirk a challenge, we are in the latter group – a challenge which amounts to 64kms and 5,033m of ascent over five days.

For a trio who are typically used to different types of challenges (racing to the bar, wrangling latecomers for ad copy, trying to come up with long words to confuse the ad team (😉), it’s fair to say we could be in for a slightly rocky (no pun intended) time… but, one thing’s for sure, we will approach it with our usual enthusiasm and ‘all in’ mentality.

And it will all be worth it to raise as much money as we can for The Light Fund. Every donation you make, big or small, will go towards funding life-changing initiatives. Your support and generosity can really make a difference.

We thank you so much in advance for any help that you can give.

(And you can be sure that we will still find the energy to race to the bar at the end).

Please note that a proportion of the 5-3-1 Peaks Challenge money will be going to the England & Wales Mountain Rescue charity.
