In memory of my brother, Kevin.

Kevin sadly lost his life as a result of a heart condition called “Ascending Aortic Dissection”. Like most families affected by this condition, we had little awareness of what it entailed, until, sadly, it was too late. His loss has obviously left a huge hole in our lives and he is deeply missed every day.

Beginning on 28th August, I will be undertaking a 135km walk over six days, following the final stage of the historic Via Francigena pilgrimage route. We will begin in Montefiascone and conclude our journey at The Vatican.

I have decided to dedicate this walk to honour Kevin's memory and to try to raise awareness of aortic dissection.

Through this challenge, I am raising funds for the Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust, a charity dedicated to improving education, research and support for those affected by aortic dissection. Their work is vital in helping to increase understanding of this often-overlooked condition and in supporting patients and families whose lives have been changed forever.

I will be part of a larger group, each with their own stories to tell and charities to support.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help the Trust continue its important work. Your support will mean a great deal to me and my family as I take on this challenge. I realise times are hard for everyone just now so anything you can spare will be most appreciated.
