Story
I'm trekking to Everest Base Camp in support of Overgate Hospice. I am personally funding every penny of this trip, but it would be remiss of me not to have a beneficiary from the pain I will put myself through, hence choosing the Overgate Hospice.
Overgate Hospice provides expert care, support, advice and information for patients and their families, carers and loved ones. The hospice is embarking on a brand new hospice build to double their current capacity, and need to raise a further £3m to complete the build, and contribute to the majority of the funding that has been secured from the generosity of Calderdale residents/businesses.
As part of a team the trek will push each of us to our limits, and we’ll be braving the elements for over two weeks on the mountains, braving whatever weather the Himalayas cares to throw at us. We will be climbing to 5,545 meters, where the air is thin and is only a third of what we breath at sea level - this is far from a walk in the park !
As the hospice says “We know we cannot add days to life, but we can add life to the days of our patients, making the most of the time they have left”, which resonates with so many of us whom have known family/friends whom have benefited from the care the hospice provides.
If you are able to I’d be so grateful for your generosity, and your sponsorship donation. Thank you 🙏
