I am running my first ever marathon, so I am using this as an opportunity to raise money for the amazing Candlelighters. It's hard to put into words just how special they are and the difference that they have made to my niece Nina, her family, and to me.

Nina was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour when she was 1 and in the words of Vik, my sister, it was "as if someone has thrown a hand grenade into your family life and everything changes".

Over the next 2 years my chatty, vibrant, and funny niece endured two rounds of brain surgery and 18 months of chemo. Candlelighters became central to their experience. They provide support to everyone who wants it, advice, care, and a space where you can always get a coffee and eat as many sweets as you want. They also pioneer new approaches to treatment, such as the chemotherapy at home trial, which made a huge difference to Nina.

They're such an amazing organisation, they are there for families during their most traumatic moments.

Any money that I can raise will make a massive difference to people like Nina and the families of hundreds of other kids across Yorkshire.
