A chance remark by my son, Jack, that he was going to enter the Padstow to Rock Swim as part of his rehab following a torn ACL led me (and Bryn and Michelle – son and daughter-in-law) to enter last year’s event. Wow, it’s quite a spectacle as two groups totalling 500+ entrants splash their way across the estuary in yellow caps. For the non-elite group (that’s the one I am in) it’s not a race, but you are time limited to one hour due to the tide, so there is some jeopardy involved. I finished in 59 minutes.

Keen to make a contribution to the local community and partake again this year and improve my time, Greens has become one of the main sponsors and entered a “team” (Ian and sons Andrew, Bryn and Jack). In addition, the team are raising individual sponsorship and we have some special dishes and cocktails in the Restaurant where 50% of the price goes to Marie Curie. Finally, in a fit of uncharacteristic generosity, I will match any sponsorship from customers at Greens up to £1000.
