At 83 years young, I am cycling from Ilfracombe to Exeter and back 7 times on 7 consecutive days. This will be almost 800 miles in 7 days.

This is a brief on my old pal Ian Jewel First met Ian in 1983 at the Barnstaple Triathlon, he was in a team called “ The Barnstaple All Stars’ he later joined our Tri club in 86, Ian a man of many talents. Really good Rugby player. Excellent Runner, always good at swimming. And his running was brilliant, in fact our Ian was in my mind the Perfect Athlete, His training was brutal, Ask anyone who was coached by him, His sense of humour was outrageous, I worked with Ian For about 9 years doing Bike ability in Schools all over North Devon, We never and I mean Never had a crossed word, in fact every day we giggled and laughed like Two teenagers, His loss has hit me extremely hard, I miss his face his sense of humour and his company, This ride is for Him and ALL the poor souls that are suffering from this awful illness, my discomfort on this ride will be minimal compared to Ian’s Illness, I could go on for ever about my old mate. But to all of you that knew him he was a little bugger, and I mean that in the best way, So here’s to you Jeweler God bless you keep 'em on their toes up yonder, and a massive RIP,
