Why I’m Cycling 10,000 Miles in One Year for The King’s Trust

10,000 Miles of Cycling in One Year

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Why I’m Cycling 10,000 Miles in One Year for The King’s Trust

This year, I’m challenging myself to ride 10,000 miles (16,000 km) in just 12 months, that’s more than most people drive! Each mile will be checked and validated by Audax UK, recorded on Strava, and posted to Instagram, if you want to follow my progress.

I’ll mostly be riding long, self-supported Audax events out on the road, and I’m aiming to cover the full distance like this. However, even if life gets in the way, or we have another pandemic, I’ll be racking up miles indoors on Zwift. So, No excuses!

But this challenge isn’t just about testing myself. It’s about giving back.

When I was young and unsure of my future, The King’s Trust (formerly The Prince’s Trust) gave me the support I needed to find my path. They believed in me before I believed in myself — and that small nudge changed the course of my life. It gave me the confidence and skills to succeed in my career, and ultimately, to contribute positively to the people around me.

Now, I want to pay that forward. With your help, this ride can create a ripple effect — one young person supported today could go on to achieve incredible things, impacting lives far beyond their own.

The King’s Trust continues to help young people across the UK find purpose, build confidence, and turn their lives around. They are there for those who need direction most, and your donation can ensure they continue to be.

Please donate whatever you can — and share this page if you believe in the power of second chances. Every contribution helps a young person take the first step toward a brighter future.

Some examples of what your support can achieve:

• £10 funds a call to the helpline, giving a vulnerable young person the advice they desperately need.

• £40 provides a young person with interview clothes, helping them secure stable employment and a fresh start.

Together, we can help transform lives and build a stronger society, one young person at a time.
