Ian's fundraiser for Friends of ANCHOR

Ian McRae is raising money for Friends of ANCHOR

BRAVE - Catwalk · 14 May 2026

We support people in the north of Scotland who are affected by cancer or a blood disorder. Working hand-in-glove with the NHS, we take care of the ‘big little things’, and we fund cutting-edge equipment and research. Every penny makes an impact as our operating costs are covered by Balmoral Group.

Story

This year I’m taking part in the Friends of ANCHOR Brave Catwalk as I want to give something back to a charity that has done so much for me since my own cancer diagnosis.

My Story

As most of you know back in April 2025, Joanne pushed me to phone the doctors as I had been complaining of not just feeling right. Following this I was quickly diagnosed with cancer on my kidney. Since then, I’ve had surgery to remove the kidney and I’m currently undergoing immunotherapy. Throughout all of this, the support and work done by Friends of ANCHOR, ARI and the NHS has been outstanding.

My friends and family have been a great support to me during this time, and I am very grateful to them for their continued support during my treatment.

Taking part in the Brave Catwalk is something that is way outside my comfort zone but I have already met a great bunch of lads who have all helped to give me the confidence to do this. I’m taking part in this because I want to give back to Friends of ANCHOR who have done so much for me, they are there every step of the way from diagnosis through treatment.

How you can help

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, I would be very grateful, and it will help Friends of ANCHOR continue supporting people going through cancer treatment across the North-east of Scotland.

Remember folks if something doesn’t feel just right, no matter how big or small, get checked. It’s never too early.

Thank you so much for your support 💛
