Story
🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃 Manchester Marathon for Happy Doggo 🐶💛
Please support us as we take on 26.2 miles for dogs in need.
On 19th April, the three of us – Fiona, Ian and Amelia – will be lacing up our running shoes to take on the Manchester Marathon, all in support of an incredible cause: Happy Doggo, a charity doing life-changing work for street dogs in Thailand.
We’d love your support – every single donation, big or small, will help keep us motivated through the dark, cold months of marathon training and push us to that finish line in April!
Why are we doing this?
Ian and I (Fiona) last ran a marathon in London back in 2016, and now, nearly a decade later, we're doing it all again – this time joined by Amelia, who’ll be completing her first-ever marathon. Although we wont be crossing the finishing line together - we're way too competitive for that and will all be fighting to be the fastest marathoner in the family!
We know just how tough the months ahead will be. Winter training is no joke – early mornings, long runs in the rain, sore legs… but it’s all worth it for a cause that’s really captured our hearts.
Why Happy Doggo?
We discovered Happy Doggo through social media and quickly became hooked on their work. It's hard not to be. Their mission is simple but powerful: to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Thailand’s street dogs – and give them the love and life they deserve.
The charity began in 2021 when founder Niall Harbison, turning his own life around after a near-death experience, started feeding a few stray dogs while out running on Koh Samui. What began with a handful of dogs and a big heart quickly grew into a full-blown movement.
Today, Happy Doggo:
- Feeds over 1,200 street dogs a day, delivering homemade meals from the back of a moped 🚐🍲
- Runs a fully operational dog sanctuary for the most sick and vulnerable dogs
- Offers medical care, vaccinations and sterilisation to help control the long-term stray population
- Has just opened an on-site veterinary hospital
- Rehomes dogs all over the world – including to some famous fans (yes, Liam Gallagher adopted his dog ‘Buttons’ through them!)
The dogs’ stories are moving, heartbreaking, inspiring – sometimes all at once. Many of them start off malnourished, abused, and terrified. But thanks to Happy Doggo, many of them find safety, health, and even loving new homes.
We truly encourage you to follow their work – it’s powerful, real, and full of hope.

Help us help them ❤️
We are so proud to be running for Happy Doggo, and we’re committed to giving this challenge everything we've got. Your donation won’t just get us over the finish line – it’ll help feed, treat, and rehome dogs that would otherwise go without.
Please consider donating and sharing our page. Thank you so much for reading and for supporting a cause we believe in with all our hearts.
See you at the finish line (with sore legs and full hearts)!
Fiona, Ian & Amelia xx
