Story
This fundraiser is for the Yemen Crisis because every day, countless people in Yemen face unimaginable hardships. Children go to bed hungry, and lives are lost due to a lack of basic support. Without the compassion and generosity of good-hearted people, Yemen will continue to endure this suffering.
By supporting the incredible work that Penny Appeal is doing in Yemen, we can help ensure these resilient people have the chance to live with dignity. Families can be supported with food, clean water, and essential aid during an ongoing humanitarian crisis. As it is beautifully stated in the Qur’an:
“Whoever saves a life, it is as if he has saved the whole of mankind” (5:32)
Over the past five years, Penny Appeal has already assisted over 82,000 people in Yemen. However, with 24 million people still in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, the need for support remains urgent.
This challenge is being taken on by former professional boxer Ibrar Riyaz from Reading, who will be running 13.1 miles on Sunday 22nd February 2026. He will be crossing the finish line at a Yemeni restaurant in London at the time of Iftar on the first Sunday of Ramadan — a powerful moment of solidarity with those in Yemen who are forced to endure hunger daily.
The fundraising target is £1,000, and every donation — no matter the size — can help provide lifesaving support to families who desperately need it. Your generosity can help bring hope, dignity, and relief to those affected by the crisis in Yemen.
Thank you for supporting Ibrar’s challenge and standing with the people of Yemen. 🤍
