Ideal Home Show Fundraiser for Furnishing Futures

Ideal Home Show is raising money for Furnishing Futures
“Official Charity Partner of Ideal Home Show”
Furnishing Futures fully furnishes and decorates the homes of vulnerable women and children who don’t have access to basic items of furniture by partnering with the interiors industry to repurpose high quality products that might otherwise be sent to landfill. We combine social work values with interior design skills to create healing homes for families who have experienced multiple disadvantages and trauma, in particular women and children who are moving on from domestic abuse refuges.

Story

How We’re Supporting Furnishing Futures

The Ideal Home Show is committed to making a positive impact. As our official charity partner, we will be supporting Furnishing Futures by aiming to raise £5000. We believe that everyone deserves a home that is safe, welcoming and dignified, and we’re excited to be working with Furnishing Futures to make this a reality.

Your support can help transform lives by ensuring that no family has to face the hardship of an unfurnished home again.

Why This Matters

Furniture poverty is a devastating issue for more than 14 million people in the UK, and is a problem that is literally hidden behind closed doors.

Less than 2% of social housing comes furnished. For vulnerable women and children fleeing domestic abuse, being placed into empty social housing leaves them feeling worthless and compounds their trauma. Buying essential items is also a leading cause of debt for vulnerable families, keeping them in poverty.

Despite this, 22 million pieces of furniture end up in landfill every year, much of which is in new or as new condition. Furnishing Futures bridges this gap by rescuing high-quality items from the interiors industry and using them to create safe, comfortable homes for families in need.
