Iestyn & Gabriel's fundraiser for Cancer Research Wales

Gemma Williams is raising money for Cancer Research Wales
Cancer Research Wales funds cutting edge research in Wales into the early diagnosis, better treatment and preventatives of cancer. It's world leading, and it's local. We give hope to cancer patients and their families.

Story

Friends, Iestyn & Gabriel, will complete an UltraMarathon, running 52.4 miles to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research Wales. Both young men have recently faced their Dad's being diagnosed with cancer and Gabriel lost his grandfather to bowel cancer. This has pushed them to do something to help in the fight against cancer.

The route they are running will take them through some of Wales most scenic and rugged countryside. They will start at Iestyn's home in Llanddeusant and follow the river Towy taking them around Llyn Brianne Dam & reservoir with the ghostly Y Fannog farm hidden beneath the water. They will run through the Cambrian Mountains along the old Drovers track known as Devil’s Staircase with its series of hairpin turns and a maximum gradient of 25%. Finally, they will finish in the market town of Llandovery where family and friends will be waiting to greet them. It will be like running two marathons back-to-back except, their route has just over 3,000ft of total elevation gain.

Good luck boys
