π΄ββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ Big Fundraising Challenges Ahead for Maxwell Genomics Fund & Velindre π
Looking ahead to 2026, Iβll be pushing myself through a series of endurance events to continue raising money for the Maxwell Genomics Fund and Velindre β two causes that mean a great deal to me.
π Whatβs on the calendar:
π΄ββοΈ Velindre Charity Ride β βDevil in the Hillsβ
85-mile ride taking on the Devilβs Elbow and Devilβs Staircase β March
ππ½ββοΈ ABP Newport Half Marathon β April
π΄ββοΈ Carten Cymru
109-mile cycle from Cardiff to Tenby β May
π΄ββοΈ Seville to MΓ‘laga Cycle Challenge
300km across Spain β May
πββοΈπ΄ββοΈπββοΈ Half Ironman 70.3 β Nice, France β June
πββοΈπ΄ββοΈπββοΈ Ironman Wales β Tenby β September
For anyone wondering, a full Ironman involves a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride, and a full 42.2km marathon β all completed back-to-back.
Many of you already know how inspiring our friend Craig Maxwell has been. Since his diagnosis, Craigβs strength and determination have been nothing short of incredible, helping raise over Β£1.6 million to support groundbreaking cancer research and families affected by cancer.
If youβre able to donate, sponsor, attend an event, or even just share, it truly helps make a difference. Every bit of support goes toward vital research and much-needed support for families.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported already β and please wish me luck for the challenges ahead πͺ
THANK YOU very much for choosing to raise vital funds for Velindre.
Velindre is recognised as The Hospital Of Hope, and this is made possible because of the fantastic and committed support of our donors and fundraisers.
Your fundraising efforts and donations help us continue to be the leading provider of radiotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments in Wales. It allows us to fund projects which improve the experience and outcomes of patients receiving care and support here.
With your support, we are able to offer better quality of care through complex treatment pathways, earlier access to cutting edge treatments, research into new treatments, purchase specialist equipment, fund invaluable support services and resources along with ensuring our staff have access to the most up to date training and techniques available.
It really is difficult to overstate the difference fundraising makes here at Velindre, but the benefits are invaluable.
