Story
Spondon Cycling Club & Ilkeston Cycling Club are delighted and excited to tell you about a joint event that we are planning for this Midsummer that we think will be awesome.
As close neighbours, not just geographically, we have a lot in common. Both clubs are very much committed to offering more cycling opportunities, not just to our members but to the wider communities that we are in. Working together on an event seems like the most obvious and logical thing to do and we hope that this is the start of a long and fruitful partnership.
On Sunday 23rd June, instead of the usual social rides that each club does separately, we will be planning joint rides; A Big Day Out together.
We are planning two routes, of 50 & 75 miles. These might be longer than most of us ride on a Sunday, they might be routine for others but building up to the challenge over the next few weeks will be a great target and goal for many of us. A reason to get out and ride your bikes more! Who doesn’t need that?
On the day, we will meet at the Queen's Head in Ockbrook, halfway between Spondon & Ilkeston and we will head off from there, starting at 8.30am. We hope to have various groups of similarly paced riders from the two clubs riding together, building friendships and having a great day out. The various groups of mixed riders will all use the same stop, at quite different times in the rides and there will be a social at the end too, back in the Queen's Head.
We will also use this as a great opportunity to do a little good by raising some money for charity and we will be inviting suggested entry fees of a minimum of £5 with every penny going to the Alzheimer’s Disease Society.
TO ENTER: pay whatever you want, minimum of £5, on this Justgiving page. Donations of £10 or more can claim back the tax, increasing your donation without costing you any more.
Please leave an identifiable name when you make your donation as this is your entry fee.
You also need to please complete the separate entry form here https://forms.gle/xe1oVwisWK97Bqb27
If anyone wishes to raise sponsorship that would be welcome too.
