I Love Manchester Charity Campaign with Wood Street Mission

I Love Manchester is raising money for Wood Street Mission
“I Love Manchester Charity Campaign”
Wood Street Mission is a Manchester children's charity which helps children and families living in poverty in Manchester & Salford. We provide practical help to help meet children’s day-to-day needs and improve their life chances. More than 1 in 3 children in Manchester is living in poverty.

Story

This year, the I Love Manchester charity campaign is proud to support Wood Street Mission, our beneficiary charity partner for 2026/27.

Wood Street Mission has been supporting children and families living in poverty across Greater Manchester for over 150 years. Rooted in the heart of the community, their work is built on compassion, dignity and inclusion, offering practical help without judgement.

Families can access clothing, toys, bedding, books and other essentials through Wood Street Mission’s city centre hub and outreach sessions. Through their Smart Start project, they also provide full school uniform packs, helping children feel confident and ready for school.

Their work goes beyond day-to-day support too. From monthly Book Roadshows to theatre trips and museum visits, Wood Street Mission helps children experience joy, confidence and opportunity beyond the challenges their families may be facing.

Wood Street Mission was chosen as our next beneficiary charity partner after winning the Most-Loved Charity Award at the 2025 I Love Manchester Awards.

Kathryn Tighe, Fundraising Lead at Wood Street Mission, said: “Winning the I Love Manchester Award has meant more to us than we can really put into words. Wood Street Mission has been part of this city for over 150 years, and everything we do is rooted in the belief that Manchester looks after its own.

“The I Love Manchester Award has helped raise awareness of our mission and opened up new conversations with people and organisations who want to get involved. More than anything, it showed that Manchester cares deeply about the children of this city.”

Our previous I Love Manchester charity campaign raised £14,538.90 for Mustard Tree.

Jack Barton, Communications Manager at Mustard Tree, said winning the award gave the team confidence that they were doing the right thing, helped build trust with clients and partners, and opened up new media opportunities as an “award-winning charity”.

He added: “Delighted to see Wood Street Mission win this year. They are an institution in the city, and we work closely with them when supporting families and children.”

And that brings us to our next chapter.

Now let’s do it all again for Wood Street Mission. ❤️

Every donation, big or small, will help support local children and families who need it most.
