Manchester Half Marathon 2025 · 12 October 2025 ·

Since our formation in 1987 our Club has supported cardiac patients at Wythenshawe Hospital and have funded literature for patients and equipment for surgery and rehabilitation pre and post procedure

Story

I am running Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday the 12th of October to raise funds for The Ticker Club.

The Ticker Club is a voluntary organisation funded by ex patients who have undergone some form of cardiac or vascular procedure at Whytenshawe Hospital. The Ticker Club offers advice, shared experiences and compassionate support to help people navigate every step with confidence.

I have chosen to fundraise for The Ticker Club as I have a close friend, who would prefer to remain anonymous, that has experienced four heart attacks and four cardiac arrests in four months.

He's lucky to be here. The brilliant support and resources that The Ticker Club has provided at Whytenshawe Hospital have been invaluable.

Without kind donations from the public and the brilliant volunteers, this charitable organisation would cease to exist, leaving provision such as the cardiac rehabilitation clinic without the essential support needed for their their patients which the NHS itself is unable to fund.

Anyone that is unfortunate enough to experience a heart attack or undergo a cardiac procedure is very likely to need cardiac rehabilitation, so this is a course to support. We all know someone who has a heart condition, right?

The Ticker Club is a registered charity and is affiliated to the British Heart Foundation. Please donate to help them continue their mission of compassion and care, and continue to help those navigating their health challenges.

Thank you in advance❤️
