In January 2021, we went for our first eye exam since moving to Mackay, QLD and for the first time, something unusual was detected. A few months later, we were both diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, and soon after, we were declared legally blind. Genetic testing revealed that we have a mutation in the PDE6B gene and night blindness, and unfortunately, we were told there is no cure.
