Another 50k? I must be Quackers

Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge 2025 · 11 October 2025 ·

At Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children, a bilingual school of BSL and English, we are facing challenging budget constraints. Our school minibus, after 18 years of service, has reached the end of its life - so we are reaching out for your help!

Story

Another Day, Another 50k but the same good cause !

This October I'm taking on Kent Downs 50k with my Pal Linda. We did my very first ultra together back in 2021, and it was supposed to be a 1 and done situation but I guess I got hooked because I've done 20+ now.

Don't be fooled into thinking that means I'm any kind of pro or that this ultra lark is easy. Every Ultra brings its own unique challenge, whether thats the terrain, the elevation or the weather, you never know what's going to happen and I LOVE that.

I'm hoping to raise a little bit more for the Blanche Nevile School for deaf children's minibus campaign and get them one step closer to riding in style.

I'm taking my little resin duckie friends with me again (I handed out 100 of the little duckies at the Gower Ultra, 1 per KM) and Ill be handing them over to other participants along the route, so Ill be making some new human friends (although after 50k, we all feel either super human or a little less human 😂)

If you can help this cause by giving up your takeaway coffee and making one at home or swapping that meal deal for a homemade packed lunch, I'll happily take your donations and pass them on.

Kent Downs.... I may be Quackers but I'm coming to get you !

Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children is a bilingual school that recognises the importance of both BSL and English - but, like most schools, They are facing challenging budget constraints. The current school minibus has reached the end of it's life, having given 18 years of great service 🥺 and a campaign has begun to raise funds to buy a replacement.

The school minibus is the only way many of the pupils can attend trips, as public transport can pose a significant communication barrier for deaf people. It's an integral piece of equipment which will need to meet all the necessary requirements (including being ULEZ compliant) so you know that equals LOADS OF MONEY !
