In Loving Memory of Roger Lucas. Supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital

The Lucas Family is raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity
In memory of Roger Lucas
It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

Roger was a much-loved Husband, Dad, Grandad, Great-Grandad and friend to so many people. He was a farmer all his life, a passionate rugby man and someone who meant an enormous amount to us, his family and everyone who knew him. He lived life with great character and left behind many wonderful memories.

Birmingham Children's Hospital is a charity that holds a very special place in our family's hearts.

Alfred, a young member of our family, is now 12 years old. He was born with heart problems and has spent much of his life in and out of hospital. He is currently back in hospital, once again, facing a difficult fight.

Despite everything he has been through, Alfred is such a happy, cheerful young lad. His smile, his character and the way he gets on with life, despite the challenges he faces, are an inspiration to us all.

Throughout Alfred's journey, Birmingham Children's Hospital have been incredible. The care, dedication and compassion shown not only to Alfred but also to his family have meant more than words can express.

Alfred was always in Roger's thoughts, asking regularly how he was, even whilst being so ill himself. We feel that being able to help Birmingham Children's Hospital in some small way, in Roger's memory, would have meant an awful lot to him and something he would have been very proud to be part of.

Rather than sending flowers, we would be incredibly grateful if family and friends would consider making a donation for this amazing charity.

Every donation, however big or small, will help support the wonderful work they do for children like Alfred and their families.

Thank you for helping us celebrate Roger's life and remember him in a way that we know would have meant so much to him.

With love and thanks,

Sue and Family
