Story
Jean, Rachel, and Lisa Addison are fundraising for The Jeff Astle Foundation in loving memory of Colin - adored husband and Dad.
Colin played in and managed football teams at the highest-level for over 50 years, including Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Sheffield United, Atletico Madrid, Celta Vigo and West Bromwich Albion.
As Player/Manager of Hereford United, Colin famously led the team to their historic FA Cup Giantkillers win over Newcastle in 1972, a defining moment in the club’s, and FA Cup history.
His influence, passion, enthusiasm, dedication and drive to win never waned nor ceased. He dedicated his life to football, fans, community, and his family.
Colin sadly passed away on 31 October 2025, with his family at his side, after enduring a 4-year battle with vascular dementia.
Throughout Colin’s dementia journey, we received so much support from Dawn Astle MBE and the Astle Family. Their dedication and commitment to help former professional footballers living with neurodegenerative disease, led to the creation of The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) Brain Health Department. We want to honour Colin’s life by helping other football families living with dementia.
Our thanks and appreciation go to every contribution made to The Jeff Astle Foundation in Colin’s name. Colin’s sporting and personal legacy goes on.
