Story
“Jane Walsh” was a friend to everyone, and today we have come together to honour and celebrate her life.
Jane’s life changed when she suffered a stroke and soon after diagnosed with vascular dementia — a cruel disease that has become the UK’s biggest killer.
With her strength and determination, Jane refused to let her diagnosis define her. She continued to drive, play golf, travel, and socialise at every opportunity, living life with the same warmth and spirit we all knew and loved.
Earlier this summer, a downturn in her health led to further tests, and Jane was sadly diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. Despite this devastating news, she faced each day with remarkable courage. To all of us, she was truly incredible.
As we gather today to celebrate Jane’s beautiful life, we ask that donations be made to “The Portchester Dementia Care Hub” — a local charity that serves as a lifeline for individuals and families living with dementia in our community. The Hub offers warmth, understanding, enriching activities, and practical support to those navigating one of life’s most difficult journeys.
Jane, who valued community, compassion, and connection, would most certainly approve.
