Thank you for supporting Southern Hospice Group at the iconic London Marathon 2027. Southern Hospice Group is a local charity made up of three hospices Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, St Barnabas & Martlets

Story

Martlets is a local charity providing essential care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas. Their expert teams provide the very best care and support, helping patients and their loved ones to live life to the full during the precious time they have together.

In April 2025 my brother Conal and I ran the Brighton marathon in memory of our amazing Dad, Mick. Thanks to everyone’s generous donations we were able to raise over £10,000 for the Martlets Hospice, which we are forever grateful for. Every single donation makes a huge difference as it allows the Hospice to continue providing expert care to individuals and their families facing the devastating reality of terminal illness.

In April 2027 I will be running the London Marathon with the exact same purpose. Although my Dad is no longer physically here, he is with me everyday pushing me to achieve all the things he said I could (running a marathon being one of them). I will always feel so lucky to have been blessed with the most supportive and loving Dad who never made me doubt that I could achieve whatever I put my mind to, I hope to be even half of the amazing, caring & generous soul he was.

Running my 2nd marathon for Martlets Hospice is so important as I want to be able to continue giving back to the Hospice for everything they did & continue to do for families like mine when a loved one is affected by terminal illness. We saw first hand how crucial it is that the team at Martlets are able to continue giving their expert care so that families are able to solely focus on savouring the precious time they have left.

Martlets Hospice receive an NHS grant however, it only covers a small percentage of their costs which is why every single donation is so important and makes such a difference🤍
