Fundraiser in memory of Tara for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People

Paul Terry is raising money for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People
In memory of Tara Tweedie
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

In loving memory of Tara - we will miss you forever 💔

Tara died unexpectedly on Monday 27th October. We are left to mourn a wonderful mother and partner who we shall miss immeasurably.

We thought carefully about whether we should continue to raise funds for Beat as we did for Scarlett when losing her earlier this year. Instead though, we felt it would be fitting to contribute any donations raised to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Tara lost her hearing suddenly and completely in 2017; it is an invisible disability, as Tara would remind anyone who asked - to the outside world she was perfectly fine with no sign of a disability. Except you cannot see deafness easily, it contributes to isolation, mental health issues, struggles with understanding and communication (missing that mealtime or coffee conversation because you cannot keep up), EVEN WITH a cochlear and on top of any other challenges life may push your way.

Tara struggled enormously with her hearing loss and were it not for having a wonderful group of pets already, we are sure she would have looked towards a hearing dog - she spoke about it often.

The charity has some wonderful information on their website and any donations would contribute significantly to the support a deaf person so desperately needs.

In loving memory of Tara - we will miss you forever 💔
