Today, 1,890 babies will be born in Malawi. 320 will become orphans. 87 will die before their first birthday from malnutrition or illness. We’re the only organisation in southern Malawi able to feed, house and care for these babies and support their return to their communities.

Story

On 8th September, my two closest friends and I will be running the Great North Run in support of Open Arms Malawi. In July 2022, Tallulah, Rosie, and I had the privilege of traveling to Malawi on behalf of Lancing College, where we experienced firsthand the love and dedication that defines Open Arms Malawi.

Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries, is home to over 1.3 million orphaned children. Open Arms Malawi provides critical and compassionate care to the most vulnerable and often abandoned children, with the ultimate goal of returning healthy children to safe and loving families. They offer nourishment, medical care, and shelter to stabilize these babies. But above all, what struck us most was the affection and sense of family that Open Arms creates, offering these young children hope for a brighter future.

Completing the half-marathon two years ago was a gratifying experience. However, after witnessing the incredible dedication of Open Arms Malawi and the profound impact they have on children’s lives, we understand more than ever how crucial donations are. Two years later, the work of Open Arms Malawi remains deeply rooted in our hearts, and we couldn’t be prouder to support such a genuine and selfless team.

Thank you for your support!
