On 20th June 2026 I am walking the ‘North Yorks Ultra Challenge 50K®’, a strenuous trail walk from Scarborough to Whitby, along the North Yorkshire coast. Despite being a keen walker I have never walked anywhere near 50 km (31 miles) in one day. I hope my legs will get me over the finish line.

I am raising funds for the SPLIT charity.

SPLIT (Supporting Paediatric Liver & Intestinal Transplantation) is a small but really important charity, supporting families of children with liver disease during the most difficult times. Because there are only 3 specialist centres for paediatric liver and intestinal disease and transplantation in the UK, parents are required to travel considerable distances. Inpatient stays are often long, leaving them separated from their family and friend’s support network and resulting in missed work, reduced income and financial hardship. The grants and support provided by SPLIT can be an absolute lifeline under these circumstances.

The charity receives no government funding and runs entirely on donations. Anything SPLIT receives goes directly to the families and the impact cannot be understimated.
