Story
Our youngest daughter, Indy, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in July 2023. She's currently undergoing treatment for it at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and is responding well to the chemotherapy, to the extent she's now in remission.
When she was first diagnosed, we didn't know what to expect or where to turn but the charities associated with the hospital have been amazing, offering support and kindness from day one.
Now that Indy is more stable and is on the road to recovery, we feel now is the time to start giving back to those who have helped us.
One such charity, who have offered advice and support have been Young Lives vs Cancer. They run the amazing Marion's House next to the hospital allowing families to have accommodation near their sick children, and have been an amazing support network for us.
I plan on running 1,000 miles in 2024 to raise essential funds for this amazing organisation and would love it if you could help me reach my target.
Their story is below:
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
