Six months ago, I was diagnosed with blood cancer — CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia).

It came as a huge shock. Life can change overnight. One moment you feel healthy and untouchable, and the next, it’s you. This time, it was me.

The past six months have been challenging, with ups and downs, but I’ve done my best to stay positive, keep going, and remain strong for the people around me.

I’ve heard CLL described as “the best cancer to have” because it can often be managed differently from other cancers. But my honest response is simple: the best cancer is no cancer at all.

Throughout this journey, I’ve been incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received. One thing that has truly helped me is the therapy I’ve had with the amazing team at Cancer Connections in South Shields. I’ve been receiving Reiki every other week, and it has made a real difference. I can’t thank the staff and volunteers enough for everything they do for me and so many others.

Because of that support, I wanted to give something back. ❤️

On Sunday 6th September, from 9am until last haircut, we are holding at Baltic Barbers a Charity Haircut Day to raise money for Cancer Connections.

✂️ Standard haircuts , plus additional services including beard trims and waxing for an extra charge.

Myself, Inese Hunter I will be working completely free of charge so every penny can go directly to this wonderful local charity.
