Health and Hope bring work to envision and empower remote communities in western Myanmar (Burma) to become thriving and self-developed. Our work is centred around the key areas of health, education, livelihoods and humanitarian relief.

Story

If you know Kerry or I, you’ll almost certainly have heard us talk animatedly about our friends in Myanmar! Our passion for the country and its people, started almost 20years ago, on a CMF trip to Armenia, when we met an inspirational Burmese medical student. Since its inception we’ve been involved in this amazing charity which does incredible work, aiming to bring “Health and Hope” to the people of Myanmar, which Kerry has seen first hand (ask her to hear the tales!)

As you’ll know in February 2021, Myanmar was subject to a military coup and since then the Burmese people have, and continue to, experience the most unimaginable suffering. Even amidst these huge challenges the charity has somehow managed to bring aid and comfort to those displaced peoples as well as persevering with their proactive work in; health, education and sustainable farming.

Given all of that, we thought the least we could do to support our friends in these terrible times, was to drag our middle-aged bodies round the Great North Run!

In addition Inga’s the big 5 0 just a few weeks after GNR, so what better way to celebrate than to run 13.2miles?!
