Ingrid Bodeen is raising money for Committee to Protect Journalists

Taipei Marathon · 19 December 2026

CPJ fights for press freedom globally. We focus on reducing the number of journalists in prison, battling censorship and repressive legislation, meeting with government leaders to push for change, and securing convictions in murders. We offer journalists safety advice and rapid response assistance.

Story

This December, I’ll be running my first marathon and my first professional race ever. Getting to do it in Taiwan, where I’m from, while running in support of a cause that means so much to my family makes it even more special.

My dad dedicated his career as a foreign correspondent to telling important stories across Asia and the Middle East. He has instilled in me a deep belief in the power of truth, journalism, and access to knowledge for everyone, even when seeking or sharing that truth is dangerous. He’s also the reason I became a runner. Some of my earliest memories are cheering him on as he rounded the corners of our neighborhood, and later, sharing countless miles together.

While he is unable to currently participate, this race is my way of celebrating both of those parts of his legacy. That’s why I’m raising money for the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), which defends press freedom and supports journalists around the world who risk their lives to report the truth.

If you’re able to contribute, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps protect the journalists who make it possible for all of us to stay informed.
