Story

On the 9th November 2023 my beautiful mum, bravely lost her battle with lung cancer. She had never smoked and many know her as the fittest woman they’d ever met, she had a passion for walking and thought nothing at the age of 75 of walking to the Mecca bingo, a mere 8 miles away!!! So when she developed a persistent cough and lung cancer was diagnosed, we were all floored but hopeful. For the doctors recognised her fitness as being a major positive and were hopeful that a targeted drug treatment after surgery, would cure her. Devastatingly however our worlds were ripped apart, for despite mums positivity, her courage and strength, she was one of the unlucky ones who list her fight. The cancer raging through her body at rapid pace, it was brutal, cruel and we must do more to protect others from having to endure such pain. Please help me to raise much needed funds to try to understand why these genetic mutations occur and end lung cancer. My dear beautiful mum was our everything, she was the kindest and most generous soul, always putting others ahead of herself. I want to honour her and do what I can to stop this happening to anyone else. For I’m lost without her and missing an integral piece of my heart. I’m hoping walking 500 miles in her memory will help bring me some peace. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
