Students from under-resourced backgrounds are three times less likely to make it to a top university than peers from more advantaged backgrounds. We support these students to access top universities through bespoke mentoring, skills-building coaching, tuition, and enrichment activities.

Story

In memory of my father Professor Arthur Gibson, I am encouraging donations to The Access Project, a charity which helps young people from under-resourced backgrounds reach top universities so they can realise their potential.

My father came from a working-class underprivileged background and left school early. When working in a library with the support and encouragement of others, he made his way into academia. He went on to became a Professor of Philosophy, wrote numerous books and papers, and was a Researcher at the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at Cambridge University.

Without support including generous grants, guidance and assistance, this might not have happened.

Any donations to The Access Project would be appreciated, so that other people from under-resourced backgrounds can reach and thrive in academia too.

Thank you.
