Story
A team of 25+ family and friends will be taking part in the Kyle’s 10 miles this September in memory of my dad, Gerry Considine, who loved taking part every year that he could. We will be raising money for the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre within Glasgow University.
After being diagnosed with Chronic Lymphatic Leukaemia (CLL) in 2008, and fighting for 16 years with the utmost determination and bravery, my dad sadly passed away this year on the 15th April. He was originally given a prognosis of 3 to 5 years but with the advance in medications and treatments through the research of Paul O’Gorman, as well as the incredible care from the doctors and nurses at the Beatson Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, my dad managed to live a much longer life than expected and got to see his 5 children become adults.
The Kyles 10 miles is a stunning route round Argyll’s Coast, which Dad loved taking part in with family and friends. It is fitting to be able to remember and celebrate him in a location that he loved so dearly and to be able to raise money for such an incredible cause whilst doing so.
We are so grateful for any donations made no matter how big or small.
