Story
We are raising money for our colleague Suzie Garner and Purple Heart Wishes, a charity that grants wishes to people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness aged 18-55.
Suzie worked with us at Hiscox for 8 years, spending her time in the Payments team & touching many parts of our York office with her infectious personality and warm heart. Suzie tragically lost her life to Cancer on 17th May following a 2 year battle. In this time, she has worked relentlessly to share her story to prevent others from a late-stage diagnosis.
Suzie’s story has been documented on a YouTube channel for those wishing to hear more about her cause.
Suzie was fortunate enough to receive support & experiences by the Purple Hearts Wishes team towards the end of her life, and for that reason her family wishes to show their gratitude by directing all fundraising their way. Purple Heart Wishes is a charity based in the UK that grants wishes to adults who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness aged between 18–55. The charity was founded by a family with a similar story of tragedy turned change; so we feel really strongly in providing a great donation to their cause.
Our Story: Purple Heart Wishes (Charity)
Making an impact & leaving behind a message was extremely important to Suzie. So in her spirit, we want to drive her story home. We appreciate any donations, no matter how big or small, but every penny counts. We have set a target for £1000, as this would not only make 10 wishes come true, but also create lasting memories for the families left behind to cherish.
We would also love, if you have any memories of Sooz, please include them in your comment for her family & friends to read.
Suzie wore her heart on her sleeve; sharing compassion, love & gratitude to all those around her. We have included some of her warm words below for us all to remember her by.
“I can't express how much you mean to me x People from childhood, school, work, holidays, travelling and more. People I met once that became instant, lifelong friends. People I met at the beach bars. People I met in airports. People l've met online. People who I was clearly destined to meet. People that gave me everything, even when they had nothing. People that let me into their lives, their homes, shared everything with me. All over the world. The generosity and friendship and care l've been shown by so many people means my heart is full. I'm not kidding, I'm the luckiest girl to have met you and added you to my collection of beautiful hearts x Most people don't have the ultimate pleasure of finding their one and only soulmate. I have found mine, I have found multiple, in all of you. I've found some of the world's best souls and my god I just can't describe the joy each one brings to me. Forever grateful x Thank you x I love you x Sooz”
