Story

In memory of Tia Kathleen Bains 🩷

On Thursday 13th February, Tia was born sleeping during the second trimester after passing away from Edward’s Syndrome and complications of exomphalis.

There is just something so very cruel when you hold your baby, who is far too small to be in the world, and you have to say goodbye before you’ve had a chance to say hello. There is nothing worse than carrying and giving birth to a baby who you do not get to raise.

Making Miracles was a godsend from the start. They offer therapy sessions to bereaved parents by counsellors who specialise in baby loss so you feel they truly understand everything you’re feeling. My husband and I found these invaluable.

They have a baby garden local to us where we have been able to place pebbles in memory of our baby girl and it gives us somewhere peaceful to go to think of her. They also hold events for siblings, which I think our son will find helpful as he gets older to navigate having his sister in heaven.

They offer many more services, such as hand and foot castings, further counselling and hypnotherapy for those pregnant after loss. They also have a podcast to help those going through loss, feel less alone.

I don’t know how we would have started to process our loss if Making Miracles didn’t exist. We are now starting to live our ‘new normal’ and I will forever be grateful to them.

I’ll be walking the Thames 10 mile moonlight challenge in September for Making Miracles to help enable them to keep up the fabulous work they do. Please dig deep, even just a few pennies will help this fantastic charity.
