Inspire Malawi’s next project is to construct and furnish a classroom specifically for children with additional learning needs.

We received a letter from Lizulu Primary School asking us to support them in developing a classroom specifically for pupils with SEND. In Malawi, they refer to this as the ‘Resource Room’. The school has a trained special needs teacher and there are 27 pupils with additional learning needs at Lizulu Primary. They are currently learning in a dirty, dark, tiny room.

Thankfully, they only spend part of the day in here and the rest of their time in the mainstream classroom.

We met with the Primary Education Advisor (PEA) for Lizulu Zone, Mrs F Banda, who is in full support of this development and assured us of the care plan for the facility once constructed.

We are really excited to start this special project & are hoping to raise a minimal of £1000 to help furnish this new classroom with desks, chairs, cushions and specialised teaching and learning resources.
