The IIM fundraiser for UK Sepsis Trust

Insurance Institute of Manchester is raising money for UK Sepsis Trust
Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Here at the Insurance Institute of Manchester we are supporting the UK Sepsis Trust throughout 2026/27. Thank you for your support - Emma Ackers, IIM President.

Throughout the year we will be collecting funds at various events during the year, including Style in the City, the Young Members Ball and our Annual Dinner.

Join us in fundraising in the fight against sepsis.

“What is sepsis?

Sepsis is a life‑threatening medical emergency that occurs when the body’s response to an infection causes damage to its own tissues and organs. Without rapid recognition and treatment, it can lead to organ failure, life‑changing injuries, or death.

By fundraising, the charity can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms.

It also funds vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. They also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.

Thank you for your support.
