Ipswich High School's fundraiser for My Shining Star

Ipswich High School is raising money for MYSHININGSTAR
For the benefit, the relief and assistance of the public, specifically families in need of support when their children are diagnosed with cancer, in any part of the UK, who require financial aid and advice, by providing them with medical expenses/advice, housing support, travel expenses, fundraising advice/support and guidance with any other issues that arise as a direct result of their child’s diagnoses. The long term goal of the charity will be to fund medical treatment currently unavailable in the UK, extending options for life expectancy, and funding future medical research to increase survival rates.

Story

We're hosting the annual 'Big Read 2025' as part of our house events to raise money for charity. Our school will be reading around the clock, coming together to celebrate a love of books while making a real difference.

Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward this cause, and we truly appreciate your support.

My Shining Star is a children's cancer charity that was officially founded in 2016 but the story began back in 2014. A group of people got together as they took part in a very large fundraising campaign for a local little girl named Ruby Laura. This campaign spearheaded by our founder, Anita Marinelli raised an enormous £600,000 for her treatment in just 10 months.

The campaign was a real eye-opener, and it did not take us long to realise the significant impact cancer has on not only the child diagnosed, but on the whole family. We met other families in similar heartbreaking situations, and we realised that we had to do more. We initially said that if we could help a further 10 families, it would be a job well done. To date, we have supported well over 5,000 families in the UK.
